The corridor taking shape

Metro is building a 6.7-mile, street-level light rail segment with 11 planned stations along Van Nuys Boulevard, from the G Line to San Fernando Road. The corridor spans Van Nuys, Panorama City, Arleta and Pacoima.

Metro lists the project phase as Construction, with utility relocation and major civil construction in its work program. Its current estimated project completion is early 2032. This is an estimate, not a confirmed passenger-service opening date, and may change.

Northern extension study

Metro’s separate Shared Right-of-Way Study covers approximately 2.5 miles northwest along San Fernando Road toward Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink station. Metro lists its phase as Planning and says the supplemental study is complete. Studied alternatives include a light rail extension with Paxton, Maclay and Sylmar/San Fernando stations, or a new Pacoima Metrolink station and mobility hub at Van Nuys/San Fernando Road.

These alternatives are not part of the 6.7-mile segment under construction. No construction commitment or opening date for this extension is confirmed here.
